World Book and Copyright day are celebrating around the world on 23rd of April with the aim to inculcate, enhance and promote reading cultures among the society. This day was designated by the UNESCO as a world celebration of books and reading, and mark in over 100 countries all over the world. To celebrate the world book & Copyright day and to promote reading tendency, awareness and importance of reading among students, faculty members Bahria University Islamabad Campus organized different activities and events for the stakeholders with tremendous enthusiasm.
A reading walk was organized by the Bahrai University Islamabad Campus Library on Monday 25th April 2016 at Islamabad Campus. The day was started from a reading walk at 10:30 am from main campus gate Bahria University Islamabad and ended at Sir Syed Block Basement. The walk was led by the Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz HI (M) (R) along with Pro-Rector, Registrar, Director Islamabad Campus, BUHQ Directors, Dean, HODs, Faculty members, Chief Librarian, Librarian, Library Staff and a large number of Students.
The participants of the walk were carrying colorful banners and placards on which different quotations were written about the importance of books and reading. Despite the hot and humid weather a large number of Faculty members, Students and Administrative staff with the messages of promoting books reading and there role in society.
A mini book fair was also organized to inculcate reading habit among the stakeholders. A renowned book sellers placed their stalls at the University by displaying quality and informative books on different topics with 50 % discount. The participant of the walk shows keen interest and purchased different books relevant to their reading interest.
